What To Wear: A SMILE.
"Should I smile, or..." is something I hear a lot in the studio. The answer I always give?
"There's no OR in here, there's AND."
(If I sound like Yoda, there's a reason for that: portrait photography IS actually about using the force but I'll keep that for a Friday Photo Philosophy post lol.)
Back to WTWW:
It's really important that your smile is a spontaneous one, where you're relaxed, happy to be in the moment, your mind and body alive.
When I say there's no "or" in the studio, I mean that there's no single way to do a photoshoot or be photographed.
You don’t have to be ON the whole time.
You’re allowed to ride the waves of how you’re feeling. Take breaks from looking down the barrel. Look out the window. Wriggle with discomfort. SIGH. It relaxes your body and helps you feel less serious about the whole thing.
My process involves taking photos throughout our session so that I can capture you in all sorts of different, subtle moments.
And if ever there was a subtle thing, it's a human smile.
Go full beam like these gals or low key Mona Lisa. As long as you're centred and connected, all of the ways you smile will be real.
Plus I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to get you giggling, tricks you can then use whenever you have your picture taken (even on a friend's phone).
